[Required Reading] Casey Handmer’s thoughts on DOGE
Several years ago, I proposed a “book rating” system that went like this:
Very few things ever fall under the 5-star category, and that’s by design. This post by Casey Handmer on the cost of government inefficiency does, though, and I wanted to share it to everyone. It may not be a book, but it qualifies for me given the topic and (hopefully) it’s potential impact.
Some non-spoiler reasons for why it’s so good:
It is not a partisan opinion
Lays out a clear high-level framework for how government inefficiency impacts everyone
Acknowledges tradeoffs and challenges
Focuses on the biggest problems worth solving (rather than getting bogged down in smaller ROI ones)
